A bit of a test.... there's always a first blog!
North of New Zealand, May 2018
As a bit of background, over the last few years we have joined some of our Lincoln Uni mates for what has become an annual reunion... few yarns, few drinks, few adventures whilst solving the worries of the world! The last 3 years trips have been "Island adventures for Lincolnites"... exploring some of NZ's outlying gems; Stewart Island, The Chatham Islands and this year heading to a couple of NZ's northern islands: Great Barrier Island and Waiheke Island.Farewell autumnal Arrowtown!
And welcome to the sunny North; Great Barrier Island
4 nights based at settlement of Tryphena.... staying Aotea Lodge (perfect), walking distance to the fantastic Irish pub!
We explored, including lots of walks, most of the island visited during the fantastic weather of our stay.
A transfer by water taxi to Waiheke Island.... over a sea of reasonable swell! 2 nights based near Palm Beach (exotic sounding huh!)
The end of our Lincolnites trip but we then went north to help friend's with their olive harvest at Mangawhai. Few yarns, few drinks, few olives picked whilst solving the worries of the world!
From there for us it was north via Whangarei and a loop thru the Hokianga and Dargaville.... a real lesson on needing to come back and explore this beautiful area with more time....
A huge thanks for a great time to the Lincolnites, you know who you are! Also to our mates the Camerons for their, once again, fantastic Auckland hosting. Not forgetting David and Helen for the olive harvest invite... we'll be back!
